Unlock Facebook Account

If you have been locked out of your Facebook account, here are some methods to allow you to regain control of your account.

Maybe you have changed email address, changed mobile number. Perhaps you suspect that your account has been hacked, maliciously compromised or hijacked.

Note: The instructions are best carried out on a computer (PC, laptop or Macbook). The reason for this is that some mobile devices and tablets will attempt to launch the app when certain URLs are entered.

Option 1 – Use Automated System To Unlock Account

  1. Step 1

    On a computer, open your web browser and go to https://www.facebook.com/login/identify

  2. Step 2

    Identify your account. In the field that asks for “Mobile Number”, enter either your mobile number or email address. Whichever one of the two that you do still have access to and haven’t changed.

  3. Step 3

    Request that the unlock code is sent to either your active email or active mobile number. Keep this browser open and enter the code when it comes in. Allow 5 minutes for the code to be sent. If you select email, this may be sent to your spam or junk folder so check that if the code doesn’t appear.

Option 2 – Use Facebook Help Centre

If the first method is unsuccesful, try the Facebook Help Centre. Here, you will find methods of requesting an unlock for your account.

Report A Duplicate Account

Sometimes the problem with logging in can be the fact that you are trying to reset an impersonation page. This will result in seeing the message that “Unlock Code has been sent if the details are correct”, but never actually receiving a code.

If you have discovered that a duplicate page has been setup impersonating you or your business, this should be reported via the Facebook Help Centre.
