Tutorial: Level – Basic
In this basic tutorial we will be taking a screenshot (a snap shot) of what is on your screen.
This may come in handy when troubleshooting problems on your computer. You can capture and save / print anything that is on your screen.
OK the method we will use here incorporates the copy & paste clipboard function that is built into every version of Windows.
1. Locate the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard. Usually up toward the top right. Sometimes worded “Prt Scn” or something like that.
Press it now.
2. Open Paint. (click Start Menu & type paint)
Once Paint is open:
Hold Ctrl & press V
(this is Windows keyboard short-cut to Paste)
That’s it. You can now use the Select tool in Paint (the dotted rectangle) to make a selection. Once you are happy you can choose to crop the image.
Finally to save click File / Save As and choose PNG type, call it something – done!
Additional note: If you hold Alt key while pressing Print Screen, the snapshot will be of the currently open window only.
