How To Run SFC Scan in Windows 10

Elevated Command Prompt

Step 1

“Right Click” on the Start Menu flag (bottom left of your screen).

Step 2

Choose “Command Prompt Admin” from the list.
(Please note: newer versions will list as “Windows PowerShell Admin” instead of the older “Command Prompt Admin”. It’s the same thing).

Step 3

In the command prompt type the following text then press [Enter] key.

sfc /scannow

Step 4

Allow the scan the 10 – 15 minutes it needs to complete. Finally, once the scan has completed type the following command and hit [Enter].

shutdown /r
