Tech News: The so-called “Beebone” malware bug has now been brought under control according to Europe’s Cybercrime Centre.
The malware which reinvented itself continuously to avoid detection by anti-virus programs has been causing havoc since late 2014.
The virus was an extremely sophisticated code that would disguise itself and reinstall itself under a different signature up to 20 times a day on infected computers.
The aim of the virus appears to have been stealing passwords in order to bring down legitimate websites & infect computers with other rootkits.
What makes this computer virus particularly interesting is that it had the ability to detect when it was being studied or even when a program was trying to quarantine it. It would then defend itself by reinventing itself.
We are often asked in the shop about the best ways to protect your computer against attack from virus’s and cyber crime. The is some good advice on this link GetSafeOnline.org
