We carry most compatible cartridges for the Epson range of printers. However the current Epson cartridge range known as the “Daisy” cartridges (Epson 18) have had known issues. We withdrew the entire line of Jetplay Daisy compatibles as soon as we became aware of an issue.
The problem appeared to be that the printer would intermittently reject the cartridge as “non genuine”.
There is a fix for this now so I have restocked the range and they are now on sale in the shop.
As with all other Jetplay compatible inks, they are priced at £3 each or £10 for the complete set of 4. Compared to the genuine Epson cartridges which retail at £9.99 each!
There is a procedure to get these to work if they are rejected which is as follows:
1. Switch on printer and remove the empty cartridges.
2. Turn off the printer for a few minutes. (with empty slot(s))
3. Turn on the printer. It will ask to insert the ink(s). Insert them.
If this seems like a lot of hassle to change a set of inks, the alternative is to pay £9.99 per cartridge and carry on using the genuine Epson ones instead of the £10 for a full set.
The official line from Epson, is like all other printer manufacturers. “Customers are free to use whichever brand of ink cartridge they prefer. Epson can only guarantee printer performance when used together with Epson ink.” (well it is more expensive per litre than vintage Champagne after all).
The compatible 18 (1811, 1812, 1813, 1815) work with the following printer models: XP-30, XP-102, XP-202, XP-305, XP-405.
We will continue to stock the genuine Epson ranges as some customers prefer to stick with the originals.
